For community school directors and CBO partners
Attendance software for community schools.
Community school teams do much of the attendance work in New York City. BrainBridge gives them the daily follow-up list, family texts and the weekly meeting, in one place with the school.
Why attendance is community school work
New York City had 421 community schools in 2024-25, in every district. Each one pairs the school with a community-based organization, and reducing chronic absenteeism is one of the main things the model is asked to do. RAND’s 2020 study of the initiative found it improved attendance and reduced chronic absenteeism in elementary, middle and high schools.
But the daily work is often split: the school has ATS, the CBO has a spreadsheet, and the weekly meeting is spent reconciling the two. BrainBridge puts both teams on one list.

How it works for CBO staff
No ATS access needed
The school drops in the morning ATS absence file. CBO staff see the follow-ups assigned to them, nothing more.
Caseload-only access
Each staff member sees only the students on their own caseload, at the schools they’re assigned to.
Texts from their own line
Families reply to the person who wrote to them, and every call and text is logged to that person.
One weekly meeting
School and CBO staff work from the same agenda, built from last week’s data, with an owner and a date for every next step.
Records you can hand over
Every contact, reason and next step is written down once, ready for the school’s ILOG entry and the weekly meeting.
More than one school
A CBO that partners with several schools sees each one separately, and each school sees only its own students.
Common questions
Do CBO staff need ATS access?
No. The school drops in the ATS absence file, and CBO staff see only the follow-ups on their own caseload.
Can the school and the CBO run one attendance meeting?
Yes. Both teams work from the same weekly agenda, built from last week’s data, and every next step gets an owner and a due date.
Can a CBO use BrainBridge at more than one school?
Yes. Staff see only the schools and students they are assigned to, so each school’s data stays separate.
